Gelim, the new name for Ptolemy Mann Rugs

Multi-coloured Flatweave Gelims

The term 'gelim' originates in Northern Iran and refers to an ikat technique where the weft thread of the rug is dip dyed to create a gently feathered transition between colours. This technique has become one of our signature looks and we specialise in creating large scale, single piece gelims up to 5 x 3m. All these rugs are beautifully double sided which is rare for a complex flatweave and they are finished with our signature stripes at each end.
